The Opposing Currents in Capitalism

The good thing for Syriza in losing this election is it won't be blamed when the Euro edifice collapses, as it surely will. Spanish bond yields hit a Euro-era record high today.

What is going on is classic Marxian dialectic, the historical rooting of capitalism in a national bourgeoisie versus the need of Capital for international integration as a component of efficiency.

And there has never been a case when the former lost out to the latter, the roots are too strong. The U.S., the supposed model for the E.U., was never a collection of separate countries.

Exactly right.
